.....I was there, I ate the good food and then went to Aix to gamble a bit. Turns out it was a gamble when we paid the cab fare but the ladies didn't seem to mind.

Me and second class Fleet Marine Pharmacist Berkowitz......That trip and the Club Chantilly at 7 Rue Haxo in Marseilles helped me grow up.

We had an extra large contingent of marines aboard since trouble was expected in Israel, across the Med.

Just a little interesting item for me and my wife about the officers of the Little Rock at that time. I noted that a K. L. Veth was a Commander on the ship. He later became an Admiral and retired after the Vietnam war. He was a cousin (not sure what level) of my wife's. His staff car would bring his mother to Peggy's mothers house to visit. The girls loved seeing the sailer outside by the staff car while the women visited.

Thanks. Christmas 1948: I was five, my wife was one. It would be eighteen years till I met Little Rock in Norfolk. Now we are neighbors living only thirty-five miles apart !

That is great for making my memories family memories!

I enjoyed your "Christmas Menu" and thank you for your work in producing same.

I am a plank owner serving first as Communications Officer and then fleeting up to Navigator during the South American Cruise. I was detached Nov. '47 so missed the dinner. She was a great ship and a 4.0 crew. I retired 11/69.

I have a copy of the 1948 Christmas Dinner .... (it) lists the CO., XO. and the heads of departments in addition to the very elaborate menu.
