Most sailors consider it
unlucky to have a woman aboard ship . . . . . to which we say "Hogwash!"
Let it be known that the members of the U.S.S. Little Rock Association feel
just the opposite when it comes to having women as part of our group.
In fact, the ladies of the Association have their own group within
the Association and they contribute mightily to the morale, well-being
and smooth operation of our organization. Known informally at the "Little
Rocker-ettes" or the "Lady Rockers" and the "Ladies Auxiliary", the
gentle-women have one goal only, and that is to support the Association in
whatever way they can.
To provide some semblance
of organization, the Auxiliary has the following ladies as "officers". .

| Dear Little Rock
Ladies, It is time once again to prepare for our trip to Buffalo. At the '07 reunion we held a "Drummer's Raffle". Those who participated in the function decided it was so much fun that we should do it again in '09. What we need to do to get ready is for each of us to get an item for the raffle. We also decided to decorate the bags for our items and give the bags to the winners of the items. We will hold our function while the men are having their business meeting. The money we collected in 2007 was presented to the Association at the Saturday banquet. We also decided to collect dues of $5.00. This money is being set aside for a "special" ladies function.
