"This is a shot I took while going ashore at Gitmo on the first shake-down cruise in the Fall of 1960, shortly after commissioning."

"I had to climb up the super-structure in front of the Missile House to get that picture.  The MAA, Mcgee, called me down but a LTJG in our division told him it was ok for me to do it. I may have sent it around to different people, but I was the one who took it with my Argus C-3 that I still have here at home somewhere."

Larry says this is Zsa Zsa Gabor being escorted along the Main Deck.  From this vantage point it sort of looks like it could be Zsa Zsa, but who knows for sure? (Larry does!)

"Talos on the way to target. Split second shot. Once in a lifetime you get this shot."

after firing a single Talos Missile

After the launching of a Talos missile there is a lot of
cleaning-up to do. This photo shows the portside blast
door on the Misile House after a single missile launch.
It would appear that the missile was fired from the port
launcher rail and that the missile shot was directed aft.

"Makes you wonder how they float and don't tip over when you see one in drydock. How about some photo's of the Little Rock in dry dock in Naples, Italy in 75? Did anyone take any?"

Note the large diamond-shaped SPS-2 antenna. Only the Northampton

The Northampton was known as the "Floating White House".
