Little Rock Underway Date Unknown This photo,
similar to the photo below was taken at a different time. The photo was
obtained from Ms. Valerie Blouin, grand-daughter of Mere Germaine owner
of "La Mere Germaine" in Villefranche-sur-Mer. Ms. Blouin received it
from her cousin "Kelley".
The photo probably was taken between commissioning and the 1962 over- haul. (Note the unique diamond-shaped antenna on the aft mast.) The shoreline and the buildings in the distance are somewhat similar to the coast of Virginia as you approach Norfolk. Most
likely an Official US Navy photo.

Historical Center state: "The large carrier, at right, is USS Saratoga (CVA-60). Other U.S. Navy ships visible include one Essex class
attack aircraft carrier (CVA), two guided missile light cruisers (CLG),
two guided-missile frigates (DLG), six destroyers (DD), two oilers (AO)
and other auxiliaries. There are also several merchant ships present."
(The Little Rock Assoc. Webmaster believes that the ship closest to the
center of the photo is the USS Little Rock.)

USS Little Rock at Naples, Italy 14 Aug 1968 Little Rock was at
Naples, Italy for change of 6th fleet command from VADM William I. Martin to VADM David C. Richardson on
board USS Independence CV62. On the same day a USS Everglades AD 24
crew member, ET Gary Adams, snapped this photo as well as the
photo below. Close examination of the photos will show they were taken
within minutes of each other. Gary is the Historian for the USS Everglades Association.
