USS Little Rock LCS 9

LCS 9 is the fifth ship in the Freedom-class Littoral Combat Ships.
She is the second
US Navy ship to be named after Little Rock, Arkansas.

15 Jul 2011 Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced that the next Freedom-Class littoral combat ship (LCS) will be named the USS Little Rock LCS 9.
27 Jun 2013 Navy celebrates the keel laying of the future USS Little Rock LCS 9 at the Marinette Marine shipyard in Marinette, WI. Ship sponsor Janee Bonner (wife of U.S. Rep. Joe Bonner of Alabama) authenticated the keel by having her signature welded into it.
27 Mar 2015 Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Little Rock is moved from the Hull Block Erection Building #10 and mounted on Self Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT's). SPMT's completes a 180 degree turn on land before resting at the waterfront of the Menominee River in Marinette, WI.
18 Jul 2015 PCU LITTLE ROCK is christened and launched during a 10 AM CST ceremony at Marinette Marine Shipyard in Marinette, WI. Ms. Janee L. Bonner, the wife of former U.S. representative Josiah R. Bonner, Jr., (R-AL.), serves as sponsor. CDR Kevin W. Ralston is the prospective commanding officer of Rotational Crew 209. CDR Paul R. Burkhart is CO of Crew 109.
08 Jan 2016 Mayport, FL - LCS Crew 109 became the first Naval Station Mayport LCS crew to be commissioned. The event was held at the Ocean Breeze Conference Center.
16 Apr 2016 The Navy announces that the new USS Little Rock will be commissioned at Canalside in Buffalo, NY alongside the "old" USS Little Rock. This will be the first time in U.S. Navy history that this has been done. The new combat vessel will join the Navy's fleet during ceremonies on the city's waterfront later this year or early next year.
09 Nov 2016 LCS 9 departs Marinette shipyard for the first time to conduct Builder's Sea Trials on Lake Michigan.
14 Nov 2016 Day-long underway for Bravo trials.
03 Aug 2017 PCU LITTLE ROCK (Crew 109), commanded by CDR Todd D. Peters, departs Marinette shipyard for a one-day to conduct sea trials.
07-17 Aug 2017 Underway at various times for testing.
23 Aug 2017 Underway for acceptance trials.
04 Sep 2017 Future Littoral Combat Ship USS Little Rock (LCS 9) has completed its acceptance trials, attaining the highest score of the five Freedom-class LCS vessels completed to date. During the five-day trial, it completed a full-power run along with all associated steering and maneuvering events and also surface and air self-defense detect-to-engage exercises, as well as demonstrating the performance of the ship's propulsion plant, auxiliary systems and the ship's handling. Manufacturers Lockheed Martin and Fincantieri Marinette Marine are now preparing Little Rock for delivery to the Navy in the coming weeks.
25 Sep 2017 U.S. Navy officially accepts delivery of the LCS 9 during a short ceremony at the Fincantieri Marinette Marine Corp. Shipyard.

04 Dec 2017 PCU LITTLE ROCK moors Canalside, downtown Buffalo, NY in preparation for commissioning ceremonies.
16 Dec 2017 USS Little Rock LCS 9 is commissioned at the Buffalo Erie County Naval and Military Park during an 11 am ceremony alongside its namesake, the ex-USS Little Rock (CL 92 / CLG 4 / CG 4), . This is the first time in the U.S. Navy's 242-year history that a new ship is commissioned alongside its namesake.

20-21 Dec 2017 Moored at Wharf 16 in Port Colborne, ONT, Canada to refuel.

12 Apr 2018 USS Little Rock moored at Berth 2, Delta Wharf in its homeport of Naval Station Mayport, FL, after more than a four-month transit from Marinette, WI.

23-29 May 2018 USS Little Rock moored at Homeport Pier, 305 Front Street, Staten Island, NY for a six-day port visit to participate in "Fleet Week New York City". Ship was open for tours
30 May 2018 Moored Pier 16S Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Fort Story, VA for a brief stop.

19 Jun 2018 LITTLE ROCK moved from Wharf D3 to Wharf C2 on NavSta Mayport for a brief stop.
